What Vergil has to say about me:

Vergil often described me as Aeneas’ faithful and good companion who accompanies him through all of his adventures. In book 1 lines 157-222 I am described as “loyal Achates” and this is pretty much how I am shown throughout the the Aeneid when I am present.

What other ancient writers said about me: N/A

What those in the past 2000 years have added to the mix: N/A

What I say about me: I am Aeneas friends and am definately faithful because I am willing to even risk my life for my best friend Aeneas. I feel like we are related because that is just how close we are.

What you say about me: You will probably agree after reading the Aeneid. I am a true companion to Aeneas.

Day 2

After a week of spending time on the shaded forest on the shore, we decided to sail to the island of the giants. We sailed through bad and good weather and endured both hot and cold days. After making it to the island, he saw the injured polyphemus who was still sitting furiously on the shore. We sailed to mess with him because we all agreed that we had a good time initially even though it was scary. We docked our ships on a side of the island where he couldn’t see us approaching and sneaked into his cave to take his sheep. We stole 6 sheep and we tried to sneak back out and get back on our ship. When he spotted us, we then proceeded to throw rock at his previously injured eye. He started swinging with arms in a random manner and managed to take out one of our men. We grieved briefly and left his body on the sand for Polyphemus was daring us to attempt to retrieve our lost comrade. We then left the island.

One day I woke up in the forest of the shade where we had hid our ships and I went into deeper into the forest to search for a meal for me and Aeneas. I was unaware where the other members of our crew was but I thought it would be best to just get food for ours selves. I left him sleeping of a bed of fur that had been taken from a defeated bear and ventured out. After walking for about 20 minutes, i saw a stag feeding on some shrubs. With my spear in my hand I approached it very quitely. I came within 10 feet and I raised my arm. The stag looked up from its feeding and dashed away from the bush. I quickly threw the spear toward that direction that it was running and i pierced its  abdomen. It continued to run and this turned out to b a problem because it was the only spear that i had brought on this hunting trip. Knowing that this was the only way i could get food, i began to run after the injured stag. For about a mile he began to slow as blood rushed from his wound. When the stag began to walk, i picked up a large rock and smashed the poor animal on its head until it stopped moving. I then proceeded to walk back to our camp with the animal on my back and I was astonished to find our hungry crew waiting for me.
