A Day in My Life #1

May 15th, 2007 by jenk

Today I woke up at 5:00 and began my morning ritual.  I went into the kitchen ate a breakfast of whichever game meat had been prepared that week then proceeded to dress in work out clothes.  I ran for a couple miles, came home and showered.  I then went to find my tutor who began to instruct me in the art if fencing.  This is my favorite subject and certainly my best.  I then switch over to academics and am instructed in variety of different subjects.  I feel that learning things like poetry are entirely pointless, I am the son of Aeneas sure to take his place as great military leader.  On the other hand I love learning about military history and the great battles of our time.  Although I find that hearing about
Troy especially painful.  For many good men were lost in this battle as well as the fact it was in this conflict that my mother disappeared in.  I say disappeared because I refuse to believe she is dead since her body was never uncovered.  But anyway back to my day.  Eventually I have a lunch break in which I eat my typical meal of pita and hummus along with grapes.  Instead of taking a nap as I was supposed to I crept out into the city, blending in with the crowd, until I found my friends apprentices of nearby shops who were eating lunch.  I stayed and talked comfortably with them for about an hour and then went back to the palace.  The rest of the day I finished up with my lessons and ended with practice in the martial arts from the east.  This is also one of my favorite activities and a pleasant end to my day.  I then write in my journal and go to bed so that I will be refreshed for the morning.  I hope that my father will stop in to see me, but realize that he is a very busy man and may be involved in matters outside the city.  I go to sleep in anticipation of the next days challenges.
