Favorite Place

Since I was in third grade, my family has taken family vacations over spring break.  For the majority of those years we traveled to Grand Cayman, B.W.I.  The Caymans are a beautiful spot located The Cayman Islands are located in the western Caribbean Sea. The islands are most well known for their white-sand beaches and their crystal clear water.

Two of my favorite beaches on the island are Cemetery Beach and Smith's cove. Smith's Cove, located south of George Town is a one of the Cayman's famous white beaches. The incredibly clear water provides for good snorkeling opportunities and the mass amounts of fish make those experiences very exciting. My family makes sure to visit Smith's Cove at least once a trip to see what the snorkeling has to offer, but I'm in it more for the relaxation part.

In the picture below, I am sitting on top of one of the prominent coral formations where I spend most of my time. I take a towel with some sand underneath for a pillow, and take a nap for at least an hour.  Though I fry under the sun's intense rays attracted by the black coral below me, in the end the relaxing naps are completely worth it.

Another beach I love visiting in Grand Cayman is Cemetery Beach. This beach is set back from the road down a path next to one of Grand Cayman's cemeteries.  Though at first I found it appalling that I'd be swimming less than 50 yards away from a bunch of rotting corpses, as soon as I saw the beach I was quickly over it.

Like Smith's Cove, Cemetery Beach provides excellent snorkeling and a very relaxing beach.  However, unlike Smith's Cove, this beach forms a downhill slope, making napping positions very uncomfortable.  Because of this, I tend to spend my day there snorkeling, or swimming in the refreshing clear water just down the beach.

Without visiting these two places at least once a year, stresses from school would definitely get to me.  I need at least one week out of the year where I can travel somewhere exotic and enjoy long, relaxing naps, or the slow currents of the Caribbean seas.
