Death Penalty

Kyrie Georgiou and Jeff Calhoun

A: Taking an eye for an eye, or a hand off a thief

It’s horrendous and strictly not our belief

     It’s only debasing our community

When the judge agrees with the death penalty.

Chorus: The government should do something about this

But vengeance on a murderer is not justice

We deny no matter how bad the strife

To take away another human’s life.

A: Being locked up might be their end

But you’ll still be able to see their faces again

Life in prison will never feel right

But alas you’ll see the morning light again.

Chorus

C: Everyone’s got the light.

Chorus

I think our song works well with the moderate rock theme. We wondered how a song about the death penalty should sound. The first style of music we tried was moderate rock, and it worked well. We incorperated the lyrics nicely, and we tried to get all the parts of the song to fit nicely. I like how our song is structured, but at the same time it is quite simple. If we [Jeff & I] were to chane anything, I think we could work of the vocals a little more, because I think we rushed to get them recorded.

The message is very clear in your song. You do not believe in taking an eye for an eye, or a hand for a hand. I think that you could have given it a little more of a rock beat, but I liked what you had. I could se someone like the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing your song.

I like these lyrics and i like how it shows the contrast by doing a wrong to right a wrong, and taking an eye for an eye. It doesnt makie any sense to me either and this song speaks to me about what our country is like. It almost makes them hypocrites becuase they say two wrongs dont make a right, but that is exactlyl what they are doing when they take another life for that person taking someone elses life. I like how they said that prison is not killing them but Kyrie and Jeff almost make it seem worse then just being killed because the killer has to live with what he did for the rest of his life. These lyrics are really cool and i like them alot.

We did not have to try other types of music. We thought that the style was fitting for the subject. That murdering and execution is bad. I liked the ending because I thought that i was strong. It would be played on a c;assic rock station. I would record with U2.

I really liked this song and I thought you did a great job singing it Kyrie! I think that the message within the minute is the same as within the song and that you guys did a great job in that aspect. I wouldn’t do a remiz of the song because I thought it was perfect the way it was. I especially liked the clapping in the beginning. Great job!

I really like the lyrics of this song. the lines about how the death penalty effects the community are powerful, but I think that the overall message is a little off. Without the death penalty criminals will rot in jail while the goverment spends our tax dollars to keep these murderers rapists and serial killers alive. These criminals do no deserve to live.
