September 11th
John Ryan and Malcolm Ford
We join with those worldwide in mourning the immeasurable suffering caused by the tragic events of September 11 that killed people from more than 60 countries. We take comfort in the dedication and selflessness of so many who have sought to relieve this suffering.
We implore our leaders to consider most carefully any actions they undertake. We do not support any actions which will injure or kill any person, for all human life is sacred irrespective of nationality, ethnic group, or religious persuasion.
History has shown over and over again that the natural human reflex to strike back and seek revenge inevitably leads to repeating cycles of violence. We believe our nation is in danger of so reacting. We must learn from this and respond in peace.
We commend all people who speak out against prejudicial words and acts. Let us embrace diversity and difference in the world as the enrichment of our souls. We call on all to seek peaceful solutions that respect human life. Let us measure greatness by our dedication to cultural understanding and economic justice worldwide.

john and i decided to go with a death metal sound. We used the electric guitar along with a dance club bass line and a rock drum kit. We chose to do this because no one had ever done this before, we thought that it would provide a different outlook onto the topic. If I were to change one thing than i would maybe make the vocals easier to hear

To John and Malcolm: I like the message your song gives, although I can’t understand the lyrics without reading them on the screen. The song is powerful and simple, although it is very provacative. I think the message has a larger impact on the listener bercause it is provacative.

I feel that this song is very contradictory. The voice and beat is really angry, almost like they want to take vengance for the attacks on the twin towers that occured on september eleventh. However the lyrics are all about universal peace and that all life is equal in importance no matter what race, religion or background people are from. However i do think that the beat was really cool and that the voice went along very well it. I think that the listener has to strain somewhat to understand the lyrics, but other than that i thought it was a very powerful song because of its harshness.

Our song was about remembering September 11th. However, it was more importantly about responding in peace. We decided to go with a death metal sound. We were excited about it because no one had ever done it before and it would put a new spin on the Quaker project. We were thinking about going with a acoustic sound but that had been done before. If we were to make a remix and I had to change one thing it would probably be the lyrics. While they do add to the musical quality of the song they are a little hard to pick up and it would be nice if the listener could understand and comprehend every word.

It was good guys. I agree with Kyrie though, it was a little hard to understand the lyrics. I understand and agree with your message that war and violence is wrong. I see this as a dark, heavy metal type song.
