Gambling
Ross Slutsky and Jeff Naids
Gambling is bad.
Increasing the crime,
The loss of money is mad
Running lives all the time
Gambling is sad.
Tearing families apart,
All the death in our city
Shooting vice through the heart
Chorous:
2x
No need for thugs and for drugs
All we need is some love
A little help from each other
Gambling’s killing a brother
Bringing G-town down
The community’s defeat
All these changes can’t come round
No more women of the street
Taking gambling down
Yeah were 400 strong
We know Trump is a clown
No more problems for long
Chorous:
2x
Some choose lives full of vice
But were making a choice
Saying G-town for life
And you’re hearing our voice
Chorous:
1x

From the start of the project, Ross and I both wanted to make a rap song. We both enjoy rappinjg more than singing, so we decided on rap. Ross and I didn’t really follow the format of the minute too much. We mademost of our own lyrics to the song, including a few of the concepts of the minute. I think the best part of the song is the begining. Ilike the remix and scratch sound. If I could, I would have included more of a variety of beats int the song. We stayed pretty much with the same beat. If I were to have an artist rap my song, I would probably have Kanye West perform it. He speaks about inspirational messages in many of his songs.

I received the message from the song that gambling is bad. If they would remix the song they should do it with The Game because he would understand. They gave off the same message as the minute.

Jeff Naids and I chose to use a hip hop style for this minute because songs about gambling set to a piano are cliche, and the area protesting the casino is urban. We first tried 80s syntesizers and electric, but nothing seemed to match the message we were sending. Our strongest message was that of the devastation gambling causes to the community, bringing vice and many immoral people. The introduction for our song was interesting and the chorous really sent a solemn message against gambling and showed a strong sense of community. If we had more time, we would lengthen the verses to give individual examples of how gambling ruins lives. Our choice of artist would deffinately be Jay-z, because he’s walked a difficult path in life and can relate to the devastation of the topic.

I like this song a lot. It clearlt demonstrates the down side of gambling. Your point is put across very well. Also I like the rap version for the song and the intro is really cool.
