Slavery

Ray Bailey and Michael Casimir

These are the reasons why we are aginst the traffic of men-body, as followeth:

There is a saying, that we should do to all men
like as we will be done ourselves;
making no difference of what generation, descent, or color they are.

And those who steal or rob men,
and those who buy or purchase them,
are they not all alike?

Here is liberty of conscience,
which is right and reasonable;
here ought to be likewise liberty of the body,
except of evildoers.

If once these slaves
(which they say are so wicked and stubborn men)
should join themselves fight for their freedom,
and handle their masters and mistresses,
as they did handle them before;
will these masters and mistresses take the sword at hand
and war against these poor slaves, like, as we are able to believe,
some will not refuse to do?

To the end we shall be satisfied on this point,
and satisfy likewise our good friends and acquaintances
in our native country, to whom it is a terror,
or fearful thing, that men should be handled so
in Pennsylvania.

    I thought this song was great! I got the message of suffering and the feelings of frustration from the song, which I think goes along perfectly with the ideas of the minute. I would not change anything or make a remix of this song because I thought it was done perfectly.

    I got the same idea from the song as I did from the minute. The idea that Slavery was bad. I do not think that this should be remixed it was that good.

    The first style of music we chose was Reggae. It seemed like it would work at first but the Garage Band was limiting us to our full potential. In the end we just grabbed some sounds and some beats and made it work. It was pretty easy to do it the way we did. It was a very intense minute that we had to write about and so we made an intense song. I think it worked out for the best.

    This is really really well done. While the lyrics may have been odd and old-timey alone, the music just seemed to work. It stood out more then any other song for me. Because this isnt a modern issue its message has already been made, as opposed to other that try to express and prove a poitn to you this point has been proven and instated already so its message is a different one. Thiscommunicated the opposition to slavery pretty well, it had an interesting layout. I think it’s fine as it is and would not recommend changes as it is pretty solid.

    I really like this song and the skill of the composers was evident in the lyric and musical chooses. I felt that the music and lyrics to this song really fit the theme of slavery. The music gave me a feeling of being in the dark and of sadness which are obvious characteristics of slavery. The lyrics to this song are very well thought out and fit perfectly with the message.

    Mike and Ray sung about how slavery is bad. The mix towards the end is very confusing and i got lost so if they remix hopfully it would be that. It shocked me that “men should be handled so in pennsylvania.” It was definitually not apparent to me.

    This kind of sounded like Linikin Park except a lot less bass and an actual message to society. This song had an incredibly tight beat and was well thought out and crafted. It sent a clear message about the hyppocritical nature of slavery and truly captured the message of the minute.

    This song has a really different feel. The quick change in the beginning makes the lister pay attention and keeps them locked in. The lyrics give off a real message and convays a message. This song has the best musical compnent that I have heard in this class. Good job

    OMG…I really like this song. It seems as of you two are very angry about this issue, and are almost demanding for this to end. The rock music played along very well with your words, and it also helped show how angry you are about this issue.

  10. Carolyn Vahey Says:

    Mike and Ray did a really great job in the musical aspect (obviously) i think the contrast of the music to the lyrics is great. Truly i was taken aback this song is great! You conveyed your topic really well great job!

    I love this song. The intro left me with a feeling of I didn’t know where it was going to go and when it kicked it was really cool. The message is put across well right from the start and it is very powerful.

    I really liked this song. It showed that you put alot of work into it. I think the end result is fantastic. This song really sounds like something that could be played on the radio. It is well made. The intensity of the song really intrigued me at first and kind of scared me. I thought the sound of the music was appropriate for the issue being discussed. As I heard it, I was like woah this is a SERIOUS issue and made me listen more closely. If i was to make a remix I might make a rap remix because i think that the exact minute could be rapped since it obviously can be spoken.
