Penn Charter has partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national organization that helps schools and leagues create positive, character-building sports programs. PCA supports a balanced approach to school athletics that emphasizes respect for the rules, opponents, officials, teammates and oneself – a philosophy compatible with Penn Charter’s Quaker beliefs and practices. The alliance with PCA will provide our administrative team, coaches, students and parents with resources to help our teams both win and show respect for the game.
PCA was founded at Stanford University in 1998. Since that date, more than 1,100 schools and youth sports organizations throughout the country – including GA and Shipley – have used PCA research-based techniques to prepare youth athletes for success in life on and off the playing fields. During this year PCA will participate at Penn Charter in the following ways:
- Sponsor four workshops, one each for coaches, students, parents, and athletic department administrators.
- Provide research-based information for all constituencies. That information will often be posted in Sports Zone.

School Back-to-School Nights. Visit the organization’s website at positivecoach.org.
