Community News April 2009
Posted by usnl in : Community News, Spring 2009 , trackback There is no better place than Penn Charter in the spring! The playing fields bustle with our amazing student athletes, our music rooms hum with preparation for the spring concerts and plans are afoot for the All-School Carnival, Color Day and the Community Plant Sale, just a few of the many spring events at PC. We also had an amazing winter, which culminated with the PC Auction. This was an outstanding effort by the entire Community. Congratulations to co-chairs Diane Bass and Paula Gordon whose creativity, imagination and hard work guaranteed a wonderfully successful evening.
Don’t miss the infectious enthusiasm of the PC community. Plan to join in these varied events by volunteering – even an hour is worthwhile and appreciated – attending, and applauding the efforts of the students, administrators, teachers, coaches and parents.
Check the school calendar and the PC website, particularly the “Parents” section and the Parent Post, for up-to-date information on activities and volunteer opportunities. Mark your calendar now for the US Parents Forum on 4/7, the Junior Parent College Workshop on 4/16, the Small Ensemble concert on 4/30, the All School Carnival on 5/2, the Community Plant Sale on 5/7, the US Band and Choral concert on5/8, the Senior Prom on 5/16, the Athletic Banquet on 5/21 and Color Day on 5/22.
We will need many volunteers for the All-School Carnival, (contact Denise Earley at denise.earley@novartis.com), Color Day, (contact Susan and Pete Davis at davisphily@comcast.net) and the Spring Plant Sale (contact Susan Goodman at cgoodman46@comcast.net). Please join in the fun if possible.
Our seniors are busily enjoying their last months at PC. Seniors give their Comprehensive Project presentations on 5/27 and 5/28. All are invited to watch these wonderfully talented students educate us in a wide variety of topics and interests. All exams are completed by 6/4 and graduation is 6/6.
Lastly, the final Community Meeting is 5/14. This informative session is a fantastic opportunity to learn about school happenings, meet new people and plan future community efforts. Also please consider volunteering for a committee for the 2009/2010 school year. Committee involvement is an enjoyable way to contribute meaningfully to the well being of the PC community at large while enhancing our children’s PC experience at the same time.
We extend a special, heartfelt “Thank You” to the many parents who donated their time and talent to ensure a successful year for all our children. From Back-to-School night through graduation our children recognize, through our many efforts, that PC is an important part of our lives as well.
Enjoy the remainder of the year and have a wonderful summer.
